Service Dogs
Not to be confused with ESAs or therapy dogs, service dogs are specifically trained to assist an individual with a disability. Rather this be physical, psychiatric, or medical. A service dog can help with a variety of disabilities and help to restore independence and confidence. For this course, we will evaluate your current dog or select a new puppy specifically for service work. We will also discuss the tasks that the dog will be trained to Preform and why. We will also pick a breed and breeder. You will also learn your rights as a service dog handler under the ADA. and finally, we will work in a variety of environments and work on public access training. Before we begin this course, I do require proof of disability from a doctor. Preferably an Email or written letter. The email must come from your doctor or be handwritten. It needs to include your diagnosis or debilitating symptoms. It doesn't need to say that a service dog is recommended, just the proof of disability. We will work from there.
